* Name Iruatã Martins dos Santos Souza * Email iru.muzgo@gmail.com * Project Title 9P filesystem for OpenBSD * Possible Mentor(optional) * Benefits to the Plan 9 Community - a good project will not just be fun to work on, but also generally useful to others. Besides from spreading the Plan 9 ideas back to UNIX systems, this filesystem will permit better integration between Plan 9 and OpenBSD. * Deliverables - It is very important to list quantifiable results here e.g. o Implement the filesystem as part of the OpenBSD kernel. o Test for compatibility with 9P2000 by mounting Bell Labs sources. o Test the filesystem by writing a simple file server providing a resource. o Integration with plan9port. o Explore consequences of the system by using 9P in substitution to NFS. o Begin the work of porting OpenBSD's filesystems as userland programs. * Project Schedule - How long will the project take? When can you begin work? From the time it's accepted to August 31. Designing it has already been started. * Availability - How many hours per week can you spend working on this? What other obligations do you have this summer? From 10 to 20 hours a week. My main obligation is the university. * Bio - Who are you? What makes you the best person to work on this project? I am a student in the Physics Institute (http://if.ufrj.br) of UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) with more than 5 years of C and UNIX experience. I run Plan 9 and OpenBSD in my computers and try to learn and improve both systems in my free time.
